If my next apartment has a balcony or any outdoor space, I swear I will get one of these.

The Earthbox was featured in Better Homes and Gardens and it’s meant to be an option for gardening in compact spaces.

Check other products in the Green Demon website.  I love the Solar Backpack, the Obon Newspaper Colored Pencils and the Solar Multi-colored LED rope lights!

Biking along the Yarra February 9, 2008

Melbourne is one of the most liveable cities in the world, and some guides say, fantastic to explore on a bike. I live in the city, and I think it’s a biker’s nightmare. Only Swanston Street has a dedicated bike path (if it’s not littered with idling tourist buses), and obviously crowded anytime of the day. The Yarra riverbank seemed to be the nearest, most scenic route you can take. It was a beautiful morning so I decided to rent a bike.

The shop owner handed me a bike map, and off I went. It’s been a while since the last time I rode a bike, so I had to get used to riding again first. When I finally got the hang of it, I took off towards the shared footpath and bikepath towards…..South Yarra suburb, I guess. I stopped when I saw a busy street. I turned back….crossed Princes Bridge, rode back towards Southbank through the Alfred Park. The Saturday brunch crowd on Southbank Promenade made me nervous, and when I saw kids on training wheels and memories of the East Coast Park biking accident that I had 2 years ago came flooding back. My two hours was up.

I wish the bike rental places open earlier, like 7 or 8 AM, when the city’s not so busy. The idea of buying a bike crossed my mind, but I have to see first if I’ll be doing this often, as renting a bike is expensive here.

More information here.

I liked this movie. It has a dark feel to it, but it’s not angsty for a movie about a teenager. The pace is more of like a ticking-like-a-timebomb, waiting to burst out (hahah, what a bad pun) and move on kind for a lot of the characters.

Ellen Page’s character is strangely calm about being pregnant out of wedlock, so are her parents and her love interest. There were no explosive confrontations, just some really witty lines accompanied by quirks in her personality. The plot basically stretches out to waiting for Juno to come full-term is absorbing.

Given that there was no room for sharp drama, and it has a happy ending, simmers everything down to a warm feeling as you leave the theater.

Enchanted December 28, 2007

Earlier today, I decided to catch a movie, but just couldn’t make up my mind which one of the three—Enchanted, P.S. I Love You, or Atonement.

Come the afternoon, I was feeling a bit down, so I decided on Enchanted to perk me up. It’s such a feel-good movie, except for the part that Giselle called on the pigeons, cockroaches and rats to clean up Robert’s apartment. Hahah.

One of the key users of an SAP project that I was involved in back in 2005 left a comment in my blog. I was surprised and pleased to hear from her!

I learned today that I have a chance to be sent to Singapore sometime next year for a global SAP project for my current client. WOAH.

Merry Christmas!!!

My mom (in Manila), my sister (in Calgary) and I had a Skype/webcam session this morning. The closest we can get this year for Christmas!

When the clock struck midnight, I took a gander at the Australian Open website. As a Christmas present for myself, I bought myself a Melbourne Park ground pass for the 19th of January.

I am watching the Aussie Open!!!! I told you I’d watch it live the next time I’m at Melbourne Park!!!

I’ll not experience ‘text traffic’ in Manila this year, but I want to be early anyway…

Merry, merry, merry Christmas to you and your loved ones!!! :)

Being alone on Christmas for the first time is not an ideal situation, but I’d like to take the opportunity to reflect on the year’s blessings, triumphs and achievements. No room for sadness here!

I LOVE Tina Fey. She was recently on Late Night with Conan O’Brien and check out the portion when she compares Conan with the kid from Mary Poppins. I was laughing and laughing and laughing.

JK Rowling did a brilliant job in tying up the loose ends.

Many predictions turned out to be true. As for the finish and corny epilogue, I just tell myself that I shouldn’t forget that the series was meant to be for children.
